Skill Crossover

Video editing + collaboration

So for my degree project this week I need to work out collaborative video editing, video editing as a core skill is part of FabAcademy so figured it could be interesting to document my process as I go.

Starting Point

collaborate

So I auto gracitated towards youtube, to see what could be done after watching thr iniitial video and found this, interesting but not entirley what I was looking for.

Ah well, enough of watching videos, lets get into the the actual software. After Effects, Premier Pro, Animate, Character Animator, Media Encoder, Prelude, and Fuse(beta) all installed

After Effects

"industry standard Motion graphics & visual effects"

Well our video is going to need effects so this one is a must

Premier Pro

"Professional video and film editing"

Similar to above, we cant edit a video without editing software, well unless we did a oneshot type of video, but there is no time for that!

Animate

"A new age for animation. Any platform, device style"

Zero clus if this is going to be useful, but lets see!

Character Animator

"Real-time 2 character animaton with live output"

Interesting! possibly we wont use that, but then again, how cool would it be to have when we cant physically put ourselves into Kibera?

Media Encoder

"Quickly output video files for virtually any screen"

Absolute necessity to be able to output the video at the end

Prelude

"Metadata ingest, logging and roughcuts"

This one I have no idea! However their terminaology of roughcuts leads to thingnk film so it might be useful

Fuse

"Make custom 3D characters for your Photoshop projects"

Again, similar to the other animate stuff, it potentially has use.

PremierPro

So it seams you have to be have a different subscription for teams, which is frustrating considering the workflow we found with indesign and incopy however there is still the possibility of a erson creating assets and edits etc supplying to the person editing in PP perhaps.

Did find an interesting app called Story - seems it is being written out however and collaboration is a bit of a bitch.

AfterEffects

Again, its a a seperate subscription for workflow with this element of the suite

Animate

Pretty much non existent workflow here other than generic asset sharing

Character Animator 2d

Hilarious! software to play with, could be useful
